I’m not even sure what I should write about the Post Malone / Jelly Roll Big Ass Stadium Tour in Edmonton on Friday July 24, 2026. Mostly because the very next night was Night 2, which was stopped about three songs into Post’s set due to a massive thunderstorm that ripped through the city.

Thunderstorms that have been raging and flooding our city much of the summer (or so it feels).

I am extremely grateful my friends and I got to go this first, stormless, night but it feels weird to talk about it when those who went the very next night had what must have been anywhere on the gamut from disappointing to absolutely terrifying.

There are a slew of social media posts show anywhere from the beginning of the storm where Post says he’s being pulled off stage because there is lightning (just as lightning strikes through the sky) to mid storm when 60, 000 plus people are crammed together in the tiny concourse for as much shelter as one can get in a mostly open air facility while the wind and rain batter them; to the after storm with trees overturned and the stadium chairs on the floor bashed together…

I am really really grateful our girls’ night was the night before.

Though I suppose if I were to be stuck in a storm, these ladies are pretty spectacular to be stuck with. This truly was a girl’s night for me. I only knew of Post Malone from the Taylor Swift song they did together, and only heard of Jelly Roll because I watched the Grammy’s this year and he won an award.

Neither artist is my typical, but when one of my bud’s asked if our group of gals wanted to go, I of course said yes!

I love these ladies, so any event spent with them is magical and an instant yes if in my power to do so. And a concert??? I mean… there’s very few musicians I wouldn’t go see live in concert when a friend asks me to come along. Concerts are kinda my thing after all, and I like to expand those horizons when the opportunity arises…

So we made our plans and bought our tickets when there was just the Friday show. We may have lamented a tiny bit when the second night was announced after selling out the Friday… Saturday would’ve been easier to go to.

But little did we know how lucky we were to have Friday tickets!

These summer storms have been raging many a night and I won’t lie, I was a little (a whole lot) nervous in the days leading up to Friday and throughout that morning and afternoon. What if it stormed during the concert with all the force and power of these prior thunderstorms?

It had been super hot, super muggy and humid all day Friday, it felt like a storm was on the way. I’m pretty sure I have minor PTSD from the many many many many… many… thunderstorms with gale force winds and the constant threat of orange level severe weather watches and warnings all July.

It’s been a lot. But Friday arrived and I was excited to see my gal pals. We went, we had a blast, and all was well for us on Friday night.

We missed the first opener, Carter Faith, and got to our seats when Jelly Roll had already begun his set. Luckily, Carter came back for a duet with Jelly Roll later on.

While this is just not my music, I can be objective enough to see and appreciate the talent. Jelly Roll definitely has the gift of presence. And I absolutely appreciate and respect his story and message of breaking “generational curses.”

And I did enjoy when he joined Post Malone later on for the song “Losers.” Their voices blend very well together!

Post Malone was fun to watch as well. He’s quite the performer – I love that he did his set in bare feet and spent a good deal of time draped over the edge of the stage.

I am also quite fond of when artists walk through the crowd, get right down to our level, which he did. (Well, not my level… We were way up in the nosebleeds.)

I knew zero of the songs for either artist so I can’t really comment on what was played other than Losers, which was memorable. And Sunflower by Post Malone as it was the ‘last’ song and while it played there were fireworks to the right of me for the finale and fireworks to the left in the near distance for the end of that day’s K Days (Edmonton’s 10 day exhibition / festival formerly known as Klondike Days).

It was pretty cool – and was I singing “Cus Baby you’re a firework” in my head while flipping left to right to watch all the things… yes, yes I was .

Seriously, soooo many fireworks!

I liked too how Post didn’t really do the typical ‘last’ song fake out into the encore. He just went right from Sunflower and left into the audience and then came out into a floating stage B cage thing at the other end of the stadium for the last last song, Congratulations.

We were sat around this end of the stadium (though very very high up), so it was great to see him a little closer. Also – again, its very endearing in the way he hangs off the various parts of the stage 😀

All in all, a great girls night and no storm for us.

I guess the lesson here is, go to the concert, even if you don’t know the songs and even if life seems a bit scary at the time. Storms may happen, but life may pass you by if fear gets in the way.

(Of course thats easier to say on the night the storm didn’t happen :P)
