There are some musicians who attain the title of rock god because of their unique, powerful, prodigious musical abilities. And there are those who reach rock god status because they unequivocally and irreversibly alter the world of music and or the world itself. And then there is Sarah McLachlan.
We love Blue Rodeo like we love hockey. They are quintessentially ours, and we are theirs.
Already promising to give that Hozier fest year a run for best lineup just knowing Kíla was coming, the performer list was not even close to done with me. Reading on, I saw Allison Russell and Madi Diaz in the schedule.
This show – a trifecta of Die Krupps, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, and Ministry – is not my normal type of show. All three are industrial rock music, some with a twist of metal, some on the goth -ier side of things. So I say to myself: “You are gonna go see your friend anyways, so here’s your chance to experience something new. Step out of your musical/ concert comfort zone. Go see your friend AND enjoy some live music. Even if you don’t know it. Especially because you don’t know it!”
This seems to be the month of Canadian 90s bands in concert and I am lovin it! This time, Econoline Crush.
Jeff without The Tea Party feels like a conversation illustrated with music than a rock concert.(And where the audience provides our side of the chat through applause, whistles, and woo hoos (and the occasional brave soul who yells out things like “Move back!!! (to Canada)). And boy, do I appreciate this conversation.
But live music, and live music from the rail – it just reaches parts of my heart and soul otherwise unattainable and I lose myself in it. Or maybe I become the most myself.
