Goo Goo Dolls – Rogers Place, Edmonton March 25, 2026

It’s March 25 – days after the official start of spring. And yet, in Edmonton, it snowed. A lot.

I can’t help but wonder if the Goo Goo Dolls rolled into town thinking – “what the F!?!? We booked March 25, not Jan 25, to avoid the winter!! Where is the Spring!?!”

Nah, they are from Buffalo. Surely they know there can be snow and freezing cold weather until June…

But while it was -15 *C outside, the Goo Goo Dolls brought the heat.

As did the audience, who were dressed in their 90s best. Tiny butterfly hair clips, floral print rayon mini dresses with jean jackets, and the never-unpopular-in-Canada – plaid shirts and denim (was I at a 90s rock band show or a Supernatural TV show convention?!?!)

Edmonton never disappoints. Not only do we dress the part, we were loud, energetic (for having aged 30 some years since the day), and on our feet. And prepared – someone(s) brought a bunch of black balloons to toss around the front rows during the song Black Balloon (how fitting 😛 – I assume this is a long standing Goo Goo Doll gig tradition, and I approve!)

It was a great night, a fantastic show, and a beautiful send off with the masterpiece of all their masterpieces – Iris. I do appreciate a band that knows you leave these monster hits til the very end. Make us stay for the gold medal game!
